The Guiding Wave have returned with "To Dance Around Love," a celebration of life and love, wrought with lament and devotional cries. Allusions to pop affinity are subverted by no-wave attitude as the music cascades through precise post-punk and dissonant noise. Infectious bass hooks in the spirit of Crisis and Joy Division drive the record as staccato guitars unravel into hypnotic krautrock swirls and sparkling melodies while drums pulse between puzzle-pieced Gang of Four beats and galloping Wipers style. Revealed through impassioned vocals are songs of the desire to be possessed by love, an ode to the late Alexander McQueen, longing in a city where no one stays long, and ruminations on the nadirs and zeniths of the human condition.
The music was recorded, mixed, and mastered by the prolific Will Killingsworth at Dead Air Studios (The Men, Vanity, Urochromes) and christened with artwork and design by the inimitable Brian Kanagaki.
